Optimum Prenatal Massage Schedule
To have maximum safety and benefits from prenatal massage, we follow a precise schedule.
- First Trimester (0-14 weeks)
- No Massage!
- Massage in this time frame increases risk of miscarriage by 30%
- Rarely, massage could cause birth defects
- Second Trimester (14-28 weeks)
- Massage every 4 weeks after seeing your doctor first
- Week 14, 18, 22, and 26
- Third Trimester (28-42 weeks)
- Massage every 2 weeks
- Week 28, 30, 32, 34, and 36
- After 36 weeks, Massage weekly!
- Week 37, 38, 39, and 40
Postpartum Massage
After 6-8 weeks, and with clearance from your doctor, you can begin to schedule postpartum massages. Postpartum massage can help in the months after your baby is born and can:
